Patricia B. Garza
I have always had an interest in helping people. Through my work as a counselor, registered nurse and educator, I have had the opportunity to see significant improvements in a person’s life and well being. For over 20 years, I have worked as a registered nurse in many capacities, from intensive care to nurse educator. I have been a psychotherapist/counselor for 9 years helping clients with chronic disease and chronic pain issues and the emotional healing needed to cope with daily life.
In 1993, I received my Associate Degree in Nursing from San Antonio College and was licensed as an RN by the State of Texas the same year.
I went on to obtain a Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of the Incarnate Word with Honors in 2001. With a continued quest to help my patients in a more holistic manner, I continued my graduate studies at St. Mary’s University and received a Masters in Counseling in 2003. I have attended several trainings to enrich my knowledge to help my clients in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, Chronic Pain Management, Mind-Body Institutes as well as Hypnotherapy and Reiki. As an RN, I continuously attend trainings in Diabetes and Pain Reframed Programs for Healing Modalities.
In my private practice I work with clients suffering from Chronic Pain, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Mood Disorders. I provide services with knowledge and skill combined with a commitment to effective, credible, ethical, and respectful psychotherapy services. The primary goals of my psychotherapeutic services include:
enhancingthe clients dignity,
generating possible solutions through strategies that involve holistic factors, and
ensuringa more functional and higher quality of life
My sessions are available in either English or Spanish.
I also actively participate in the spiritual community by providing bilingual/bicultural training and lectures on strengthening body-mind-spirit interrelation, wellness, stress management, and cultural competence.
